While this foundation is aggressively pro-roads, IMHO it is more

is, it wants things that benefit large corporations that supply
motorists.
They often submit guest editorials of various sorts to the
newspapers. IMHO they play fast and loose with the facts.

I've made my opinion of the "Reason Foundation" clear in the past,
carefulthis article only reinforces what I think of them. They're all in
favor of ivory tower studies that benefit corporations without
inthought about how to build or pay for them. Having foreign investors
owning roads for profit so they can be improved for our use just is
more of their garbage.

I have my own opinion against right-wing libertarian outfits like the
Reason Foundation and their push to privatize everything in
sight...even though I am definitely for increased spending on
infrastructure, I'd rather that it be financed through public revenue
and directed towards public needs. I'n not neccessarily against some
private preexisting toll roads being leased out,nor am I against
targeted, linited toll facilities...but interstate corridors that are
already funded as free facilities and new interstate facilities should
be funded and upgraded and maintained as free facilities, not given up
to private companies to use as cash cows...whether those companies are
foreign or domestic.
And if toll facilities are needed at all, they should be run by public
companies that are held accountable by the people for their actions
through the democratic process.
Anthony
Liberals are in favor of toll roads because they are also in favor of
raising the cost of driving to subsidize rail-based transit schemes, as
leftPennsylvania. The far right is in favor of toll roads because they feel
that at least the companies will keep them in good shape. So the far
and far right are in basic agreement on toll roads. That worked so well when they conspired together to close the
residential mental health facilities and leave the country with
thousands of homeless who are fundamentally incapable of taking care of
themselves.
I'll pass.
The News and Observer in Raleigh, NC has just documented that process in
North Carolina. Very high costs and little or no care for the ill. That is
what liberals and conservatives want to do for travel. For the far right,
only the rich can travel, and the others can stay home, to benefit the
environment.
