In Hawaii, primary route 11 turns into primary route 19, at the
intersection
with secondary route 190 in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island. Routes 11 and
19
comprise the "Hawaii Belt" loop around the island, and the separate route
numbers minimize confusion when the road changes direction on the return
trip to Hilo (where 11 and 19 meet again, but there at basically a
T-intersection with 19 continuing through the intersection).
I agree, I think of Hawaii when looking for examples of deliberate end-
to-end routes. But, at least one map I saw seemed to indicate that
route 190 extends west a short distance along Palani Road from the
intersection with 11 and 19, as far as the intersection with Kuakini
Highway. This latter road seems to be the original routing of Route 11
through Kona. There were no "END" signs for any of the three routes at
the 11/19/190 junction, which does not appear to be unusual in Hawaii.
That's correct, Hawaii DOT's straight-line diagrams confirm that 190
continues on Palani Road through the QKH intersection, to end at the Kuakini
Highway, even though the signs at the intersection indicate otherwise.
Not only was the Kuakini Highway the original routing of 11 through
Kailua-Kona, but Palani Road was the original routing of 19 (before the QKH
was completed up to near Kawaihae, which then took over 19 and the original
route became 190). So the old routings of 11 and 19 *also* ended at each
other, though joining at right angles rather than on the same roadway as
they do today. County route 187 also ends at the Palani-Kuakini
intersection (continuation under a different name of the Palani roadway),
though 187 was a late addition to the numbered highway system and may have
been designated after 11 and/or 19 were relocated to the QKH bypass.

That straight-line extension of Palani Road is Ali'i Drive - a road
that follows the coast south from downtown Kona with many condos along
it. There was no route marking along this road, but there were
mileposts beginning, I would presume, at the Palani-Ali'i-Kuakini
intersection. Nothing at or near that intersection to suggest numbered
routes in any direction or a change in roadway jurisdiction such as a
change in signage or signpost styles.
