Well that's the 'It's not debate, it's shouting' mechanic I was referring
to
last night. This is not the discussion of an issue per se, it's the good
olde republican schtick of demonising EVIL taxes; the sort of fake
populism
they've been drivelling out for the last 40+ years, as a means of
convincing 'the little people' that the republicans are looking out for
them. Facts are an encumbrance to this sort of propagandising.

Actually careful analysis of congressional districts shows that in the last
election democrats won in the most wealthy congressional areas, not
republicans. The anti-road crowd liberals are quite wealthy.
