How would you have numbered the interstates in DC, Delaware, and
Maryland if they had been a single state instead of two states and
whatever DC is considered, assuming no changes to the number and
location of roads built? My solution:
* Current I-495 between I-270 and I-95 becomes part of I-270. I-95 is
signed alone on the DC beltway. The rest of the DC beltway becomes
I-266.
* I-295 in DC and Maryland becomes I-895
* I-97 is extended north through the Harbor Tunnel and replaces part
of I-895. The rest of I-895 becomes I-297.
* I-395 in Baltimore becomes I-595. The current secret I-595 is
decommissioned -- it's not posted, why waste the number?
Other ideas?
Except for I-295 which is currently in both states, nothing else would
necessarily need to change. I-295 in D.C. and Maryland could become
I-595.
