Most left turn collisions with oncoming traffic occur at green lights-
which are found in abundance in Florida! Few left-turn collisions
occur at blinking red arrows.
In Michigan and most NORTHERN states where traffic engineers seem to
display more intelligence and are quick to react to injury and death
statistics:
They know that a blinking red left-turn arrow (as well as a blinking
left-turn yellow arrow)is well understood by all drivers to mean:
oncoming traffic has the green light and does not stop!
Many Florida left turn lanes do not have their OWN left-turn COMPLETE
signal configuration. Florida left-turn signals are often combined
with the signal for the thru lane(s) which are to the right. The
result is a massive continuing epidemic of collisions with oncoming
traffic. It's time for Florida traffic engineers to WAKE UP and
standardize with the rest of the country!.
Left-turn carnage is EPIDEMIC in Florida!
The man in a position to correct all the left-turn carnage is:

Sir, you are so wrong on so many levels, I have no idea whwre to
start. Why do you think every traffic sig in the state of FL is under
the jurisdiction of FDOT? Most traffic sigs ar county operated and
maintained. The proper place to pitch your bitch is with the
respective county.
Continuing, most every signalized intersection has a left turn slot
and they use a leading green protected left turn sequence. I have no
idea what you complaint is about that.
The left turn sequence allows dual protected left turnes from the
opposite lanes. Again I have no idea what you are bitching about.
Are you saying 24/7 there should be rather an unprotected left turn
with a blinking arrow??? Than would certainly be mayhem.
You know what I think, you got a ticket for turning left after the
arrow changed to red, and you are crying like a baby. Grow up man,
pay attention to the sigs and you will not have those problems.

There was no red arrow. I suggest that you have never BEEN to Florida.
Frankly, I don't know where to start with your lack of information!
Go look at the 43plus serious accident left-turn injuries in Palmetto,
Florida where US 41 and 301 combine for a south-bound left turn. (near
the Manatee Convention center)
Are you telling us that the signal configurations vary according to
county? If so, You have made my case for the lack of uniformity in
Florida traffic signals.
I suggest you start DRIVING around Florida instead of your little
neighborhood!
