Out & about in south KC metro area

Here are some observations in the southern part of the KC metro area
not covered in my latest site update (due to traffic safety concerns,
no photography at this time).

Belton, MO: the guide signs along US 71 for 163rd Street do not show
MO SR Y. The roadside assemblies at the exit do show it. Shades of
SR D near the KCI Airport.

MO 58 in Raymore (on the site update): state route shields use the
high-detail method like on construction sites. It appears that it's a
local thing, as on WB MO 58 a sign near the Wal-mart indicates
beginning of MoDOT maintenance.

Grandview Triangle update: placement of concrete pavement on the
rebuilt US 71 between I-435 and Blue Ridge is well underway with just
a short stretch at the new Longview overpass/exit remaining and some
median barrier work. Pier work is underway on the new Longview
overpass, and several new guide signs are placed. It appears that the
new lanes of US 71 may open this fall or winter with the C/D lanes to
finish next year. No telling how the speed limit scheme will occur,
whether the part north of Blue Ridge will remain 55, or become 65 to
I-435/I-470.

Lee's Summit: some work on I-470 just west of the US 50 / MO 350
interchange has the lanes shifted and narrowed for median barrier
repair. Should just take a handful of days.
