PPTA's as the future of highway financing. As I have said they are
collapsing of their own weight because the private end is demanding
way too much money from the public end.

A misrepresentation of my views. Public-private partnerships have been
successful on the Dulles Greenway and the Route 895 Pocahontas Parkway,
and are appropriate in certain selected cases. They are one tool of
many for funding highway projects. The Parallel Midtown Tunnel project
in Norfolk will likely be a tolled PPTA project, and several proposals
are being evaluated now.


Scoot you mention what 4 projects all in VA, and the 895 and Dulles
Greenway are not really making any money even at this late date. But
that is one thing of many you do not want to talk about. I wonder
why. They both were very close to going bankrupt. Why do't you tell
us all about that.

Let me tell you of a FL PPTA disaster. Why don't you talk about this,
I have to believe with your extraordiary knowledge you have to know
all about it.


For several years now Hillsborough Co wanted to build a short
boulevard like roadway from Bruce B Downs Blvd in New Tampa to I-75
to take some of the heavy traffic off BBD.

FDOT would have built the new ic at I-75. A fairly cheap easy proj.
Even you can see that. Well the consultants that make their huge
profits from the pub agencies that you love so very much, got a hold
of it and with political contrib get the state to retink the wohl
thing ank make it into a 6 lane toll road. Now the constuction costs
and eng costs are biginning to go theough the roof.

Continuing there is something called the Hillsborough County Exwy Auth
which built the reversibles that you love so much. They are not doing
as well as you think, but you cannot accept that.

And the funniest thing is you never talk about the collapse of the
reversibles or the massive lawsuits for the Auth to get some of its
money back.

Well now the cost of the proposed toll road is going higher and
higher. Also there are multiple investigations of the Hillsborough Co
Expwy Auth for massive corrution. If you want to real about it Google
that and the St Pete Time or the Tampa Tribue. They did many, many
stories, something I never saw in your vaunted Toll Road News. I
wonder why?

They talked of a PPTA, but it would have required hundreds of
millions from the public end to even get it started and it was too
much, so the whiole thing was dropped as being too exp.

So much for one of your vaunted PPTA's in the days of very high fuel
prices and very high const costs in general.

I will tell you again, whether you accept it or not, PPTA's ARE NOT
happening. They require way too much money to the profit driven
private end from the public end of the PPTA's. I am wondering if you
possible can understand that simple statement?

I feel that involving the
private interests in road building causes them to consider their
bottom dollar first before anything else, including capacity and
safety considerations.

A nonsense statement. Over $60 billion per year in highway construction
and design is contracted out to... private companies. Private interests
are already highly involved in road building.
