I've tried defending the guy in the past, but have to admit that I've
finally run out of patience with Carl's insistence of being *way* too
formal for this newsgroup, his postings about how his website has been

is (lots of inaccuracies, which is fine, except that he rarely
acknowledges about being wrong when politely being corrected)...I'm no
longer afraid to say it; he really does need to take a hike at this
point and stop posting to this newsgroup.
I'm sure he's a good guy in person, and yes, I'm confident that he has
a genuine interest in roads. However, it'd be nice to see him stop
posting in a style that makes him seem conceited and above everyone
else in this newsgroup.
"Without question, the Worldwide Highway Library is the most
diversified and
well-documented catalogue of highway signs, roadside scenery and
international border crossings. No other highway-enthusiast website
compares to its wide coverage--it's simply the best! No comparison."
It's irritating to continue reading such postings; we're all in this,
because it's a hobby. It's not a competition against each other to
have the best road website out there, or to be #1 with the most facts
and knowledge about roads. Nobody is above each other in here, and
while we all have our own posting styles (some are more formal than
others), nobody in this newsgroup would ever claim to be better and
above everyone else.
I certainly didn't post my Bay Area freeway videos on here to become
the pound-for-pound king of offering highway videos in here; I did it
to simply allow everyone in here who hasn't been in the Bay Area to
get an idea of what our freeway system is like. And quite
admittingly, the quality of those videos that I shot awhile back isn't
the best; I used a $79 webcam, I didn't zoom in as much as I should
have on most of those videos, and I'm not as high-tech savvy as some
of the other members in here. However, unlike Carl, I wasn't doing it
to get as many hits as possible; just did it for leisure and even for
fun.
Hi Brent,
Excellent display of opinion; that's the liberal spirit! If you wish
to see the largest list of Bay Area highway videos, including
California videos, look no further than the Worldwide Highway
Library's catalogue:
http://worldwide-hwys.calrog.com/repository.html (California
Interstates)
http://worldwide-hwys.calrog.com/repositor.html#ca (California State
Routes)
Simply put, you do not become a worldwide leader in the topic by
complacence. The objective of the Library is to expand coverage and
offer insight into highways around the world, whether you like it or
not! That's why it's the best!
From an agnostic to an atheist,
