This is at least the third incident I'm aware of where structures
collapsed as a result of tanker fires on or underneath them. The one
in DC, this one and one on I-40 in NC a few years ago. Can anyone
think of any others?

Where did that happen in or near the District of Columbia?
I can't recall any in recent history.

Nor do I (since I moved here in 1981). Something up in Newark NJ (part of
I-78?) in the last few years collapsed due to a fire, though I think it
wasn't a tanker fire.

ISTR there was a fire on an interstate or perhaps a freeway bridge
that resulted in the structure partially collapsing. I was thinking
it had taken place in the NVA/DC area but it may have been further
north.

There was one on I-95 near Philadelphia about 5 years ago. None in the
"NVA/DC area" since at least back to when I first moved into the area in
1969.
