Fast Track Replacement of j118 bridge on NY 17

NYSDOT is doing another fast bridge replacement at j118-the Fair Oaks
junction on NY 17, northeast of Middletown. As it stands right now, the
entire overpass is down except for the center pier. I'm sure that will go
in the next two weeks or so. Unlike a similar project for the Fletcher
Street Junction(j122A), the abutments for the old bridge have also been
torn out. Traffic for points north is being detoured via j116(NY 17K)
eastbound; and for points south, via j119(NY 302) westbound. With left or
right lane closures, depending on activity.

The NY 17 Wallkill River bridge is progressing. Girders for the westbound
lanes have been put up. Once it's finishe, it will be wide enough for 6
lanes of traffic. Most of the bridges on NY 17 between Bloonimgburg(j116)
and Harriman(j131) are wide enough for 6 lanes.
