Re: Favorite mapping software?

I'm going to be doing a lot of driving this summer... and I wanted to
buy a mapping software program for my laptop to have on the road. For
those of you who have one of these products (Microsoft, DeLorme,
others) what do you like and not like about them?

DeLorme has lots of neat software features, but their road data is waaaay
out of date. If you hook up a GPS, it will record a track with full data,
though. Their Topo USA product has the same crappy road data, but the topo
data and loads of geographic names is really useful in rural areas.

Microsoft Streets & Trips is a really bare-bones piece of software, but the
maps are extremely readable, reasonably up-to-date, and zooming and
navigating from the keyboard is very fast. Its GPS track, though, is just a
line drawn on the map.

I sometimes have both running, with Topo USA recording a GPS track, while
MSS&T is in front for me to actually look at.
