Are truck only lanes the best improvement? It seems there are spots
with enough auto traffic to justify three lanes each way, such as the
Warrenton to US 61 section and around Columbia. And would these truck
only lanes require separate ramps at each interchange, greatly
increasing the cost of the project?
The common solution would be to use electronic toll collection/
enforcement, and a 1 mile or so break in the barrier for the trucks
(or cars if they are allowed also) to merge with traffic in the free
lanes and use the ramps.
