Not true. It would be very easy to turn US 71 into a full freeway. Look at
it on Google Earth or Terraserver sometime. You can even tell where some of
the interchanges are supposed to go because the frontage roads have already

True. Of the existing expressways targeted as potential future
Interstates, US 71 would be the easiest. Even the newer parkway
stretches on Watkins Drive are set up to allow for future freeway
construction should the legal roadblocks be cleared.
Extending I-540 to KC? Possible.
You obviously haven't heard of the I-49 extension.
I noticed in the 2007 Rand Mac that Arkansas is working on the stretch
between Texarkana and the Louisiana state line.
