Two More Articles On Widening I-10 Through Tempe

The Arizona Republic, being one of the crappiest newspapers in the
nation, simply loves writing a series of articles with similar
content. Yesterday, they wrote a story about the widening project
between US 60 (Baseline, actually) and I-17, where I-10 would have an
additional 8 more lanes minimum and up to 24 lanes in certain spots.
Here are more stories (no reg req, but you might be asked to answer 3
questions about your age and location):

1. Tempe is whining, again, that ADOT isn't fixing the problem. For
those of you who came late to the game, Tempe was the one who declined
money to widen US 60 years ago. Their reasoning involved encouraging
people to use transit, a strategy that has consistently failed in
effectiveness (just ask Tucson). Not recommended reading.

2. More information about how the C/D roads work (they are calling
them "local roads"). They also mention an improved connection with AZ
143. This will likely be a full freeway-to-freeway connection (as it
stands, E/B I-10 must wait at a sometimes lengthy light before turning
onto N/B 143). Recommended reading.

Interestly, a couple of readers commented about the effectiveness of
the existing C/D roads in Toronto, ie the famous 20-lane-wide stretch.
