Re: Site setup help....

I'm working on linking directly to photos, and am inquiring as to how
to get the photo to open up in a new window (Internet Explorer) so that
when someone views the photo there's no need to hunt in the Explorer
toolbar for the "Back" button. I'm sure there's a procedure in HTML
language; it works when I view sites like the Comrade's.

Given the penchant of many to use popup blockers, I'm not sure I would
go with this approach, even if the new window is full size.

On my own site, I show most of my larger pics at about half-size (or a
little bit more), and provide a link to a "view image" page which shows
just the pic (without commentary or caption) at full size. Clicking the
pic again takes the visitor back to the previous page.

Example: my main "Highways" page:

http://www.blcamp.com/blcamp/content/highways.asp

Click the photo at the right, and you get a larger view of the same
pic.
Click the larger photo, and you go back to the main Highways page.
(A different picture may appear, because I have code that shows a
random highway-related photo here.)

I use a smidgen of Javascript to handle the "click to go back" link on
the larger version of the photo, but other than that, it's all HTML,
generated by classic ASP. PHP or some other server-side language can
handle the job just as easily. Even static HTML will do.

If you'd like to do this on your own page, I'd be willing to help, as
I'm sure others here would as well.
