I wonder how WVA will fare. Their road-funding program is facing a
severe crisis, brought by decreased federal spending and increased
maintaince headaches brought on by an aging highway system. Add onto
the highway projects to improve the transportation network in WVA, and
it will take 300+ years to complete it (taken from a H-D article)!
It is interesting that WV has about the highest state gas tax in the
Eastern US.
I think they call it an excise tax. Now do they put a sales tax on top
of that?
Not to argue with you, but WV got a lot of Federal largesse over the
years.
For a small state they have a large interstate system plus the APD and
other federal aid.
Remember Jennings Randolph and Harley Staggers, and of course Byrd who
we talked about before.
