"In the Loop = Bypass Impact"
Mike Mueller
'It's taken longer than most Hollywood marriages but this ring has
finally come full circle.'
'With a snip of the ribbon, Staunton's 262 bypass is finally complete.
The final 4.3 miles of the loop connects Routes 250 and 254. Now, you
can reach the western and southern parts of Augusta County without
trudging through Staunton... Saving you 20 minutes on your drive!
Thursday's opening wraps up a 25 year project, totaling more than $40
million.'
'The timing couldn't be better for Augusta County. With it's
comprehensive plan still under review, a lot of potential looms inside
the Staunton loop.'
'We've all heard the saying one road leads to another and in the case of
the 262 bypass, Augusta County sure hopes so.'
"I'm sure some discussion, consideration will be given as to what impact
a road like this should have in terms of development along these roads,"
says Wendell Coleman, Chairman of the Augusta County Board of
Supervisors. The bypass oozes potential for three good reasons...
Location. Location. Location.'
'"People looking to come to an area ask one thing," says Staunton Mayor
Lacy King. "How accessible is it from where I want to go? This loop
provides that accessibility."'
