Another that I haven't seen: US 75 becomes MB 75. This one is an
interesting one in that MB 75 is 4-lane divided from Winnipeg south to
I-29. However, within a stone's throw of the border (literally), MB 75
breaks off of the four-lane and meanders near the border, through
Emerson, and eventually to the border to become US 75.
On a (somewhat) unrelated note, does anyone know if there is an
official designation for the very short stretch of highway in Manitoba
from the 49th parallel to MB 75?
T Vis
Google Maps shows it as MB 29.
Which would make it another example then. I've been there a few times,
and the only signage when you get to the four-lane indicates MB 75
north and I-29 south.
Manitoba Provincial Highway 29 is a provincial highway in the Canadian province of Manitoba connecting Highway 75 to Interstate 29 at the U.S. border. The highway, which is currently a short at-grade expressway connection with I-29, is less than 1 km (about 1/2 mile) long.
Short as it is, Highway 29 is a signed route, although it is typically omitted from being printed on maps. The official map of Manitoba signs it, but many other map companies do not. The highway has one identifying sign, which can be seen travelling westbound on Highway 75 toward the intersection north of the border station, and carries a 100 km/h speed limit.
