In case you haven't noticed this before, Wikipedia.com ("The Free
Encyclopedia") now has a "List of Interstate Highways" at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Interstate_Highways.
The site includes some interesting trivia. Here's an example for I-91:
"In the 1970s there were plans to extend I-91 across the Long Island
Sound from New Haven, Connecticut to Long Island in New York. The
extension would continue south to the southern shore of the island
perhaps along the route of the current William Floyd Parkway in central
Suffolk County. It would also provide easier access to New York City
via Long Island Expressway, as well as the Hamptons via Sunrise Highway
(NY-27)."
Also included are actual miles a route travels in each state. For
example I-30 is listed with actual miles for Arkansas (143 miles) and
Texas (223.737 miles), for a total of 366.737 miles. It also includes
the length in kilometers.
Another bonus is that unsigned Interstate designated routes in Alaska
and Puerto Rico are covered on this site, as are Hawaii's H1, H2 & H3.
Hey, you can even find info on I-H201.
This is a listing of topics for each route:
1 Length
2 Major cities
3 Junctions with other interstates
4 Junctions with other notable highways
5 Spur routes
6 Lane configurations
7 Notes
8 External links
9 References
Note that not all Interstate routes have all of the topics listed above
on their respective page.
