While in DC this weekend I got to experience waiting at many red
lights. When the light turned green, the walk signal would like up and
immediately it would go into countdown mode. Only with about 3 seconds
left would the walk signal turn to a flashing don't walk signal, and at
0 it would become a steady don't walk signal.
Along the same street, I was amazed at the different amounts of time
given. Most were in the 20 - 30 second range. One started counting
down from 59 seconds!
