Re: The law's clear: You must let drivers pass

disappointing... threads of late

The law in Va and the reason behind it are clear.

Use the left lane for passing and move to the right
after passing.

Yes, there are lots of circumstances where this may
not be possible or easy but there are also lots of
circumstances where it is EASY to do and no
reason not doing it - but yet some folks persist.

so the discussion goes in the direction of
the reasons for not doing so - and a sprialing down
of the content towards the inane and then to
ad hominem attacks. typical .. and revealing.

why not keep the discussion on the level of following
the law - and common sense - and using the passing
lane for it's purpose and move right when finished passing?

It seems like a simple thing.

... when you CAN... instead of supplying innumerable reasons
why one cannot.. and using those reasons, essentially as
justification that because there are times when you can't,
that there's no sense in doing it at all - ever.

... If folks did this simple thing - WHEN they COULD - a lot
of the anger and bad behaviors would be recognized for
what they are - people who don't care to share the road
to begin with.

Folks who have no intention of driving in a way
as to recognize that we all bear personal responsibility
for not causing other folks problems and instead go out of
their way to actually cause problems for others - contribute
in no small way to a lot of the congestion and ugly
conditions that we see on the highways.

Laws won't solve this problem.
