For the PA Turnpike, it seems like it depends on the interchange
configuration and the traffic demands. The less volume exits of the
Turnpike have two (?) boots per side with one being EZ-Pass and Cash
and the other just being Cash. Maybe it has changed to both being both
EZ-Pass and Cash, I'm not sure.
However, at the New Stanton exit exiting the Turnpike, there is eight
booths I believe and one towards the far left is EZ-Pass Only and
another one on the far right is also EZ-Pass Only. The rest are just
strictly Cash Only, I'm sure it has to do with the heavy truck traffic
and how narrow it gets after the booths.
