Serious Moderate Discussion About Wesley Snipes Epilogue

The state-worshippers have proclaimed that might makes right.
Ignoring the glaring contradictions in that brutal philosophy, they
repeatedly offer the same state-sponsored slogans and propaganda they
were spoon fed in public school, and reinforced by the popular
culture. When confronted with those contradictions they resort to
ritual defamation, name-calling, misdirection, disinformation, denial,
and any number of irrelevant anecdotes in order to preserve their
blind faith in a higher "authority" which they admit merely masks the
same flawed human beings they claim they need protection from. "We
need government to protect us from . . .government," is the insane
conclusion of such a philosophy.

When debating Christians, authoritarians, and other religious
devotees, I am often reminded of a quotation from Mark Twain: "When
even the brightest mind in our world has been trained up from
childhood in a superstition of any kind, it will never be possible for
that mind, in its maturity, to examine sincerely, dispassionately, and
conscientiously any evidence or any circumstance which shall seem to
cast a doubt upon the validity of that superstition. I doubt if I
could do it myself."* Then I consider how difficult it must be for
those with ordinary minds. Good luck, ed senter.
