There is a de minimis amount, below which your wife would not need
to pay any SE tax. If her Schedule C profit is not more than $433
then she is not required to file Schedule SE or pay SE tax.
So all I'm doing is moving the tax liability from me to her. Seems moot
we file jointly.
You save up to about 15% of $433.
That's the amount of SE tax she does not pay that you also do not pay.
I'm not 'in the business' of renting property, so I use a schedule E.
There's no SE tax liability on my end.
