I filled out the on-line application to be able to e-file using a
professional tax preparers software.
My tax preparation experience is over 20 years. I do just blue collar,
small investment, small business taxes. I took an HR Block course in
1980 and some college tax courses in the 80's when the IRS overhauled
the taxes.
I am not an accountant or a CPA, or an attorney, or do I work for a
tax firm.
My question is because I am not one of the above, I need to submit a
fingerprint card. I do not have a problem with that accept the time it
will take the IRS to process.
Anyone have experience in this type of situation?
I should have started this earlier, but I do this part-time and my
full time job has had me on the road often.
I doubt it'll take as long as you might think.
1) Get the application in ASAFP.
2) tell your clients that you are awaiting approval from the IRS for e-file.
3) tell them that you will prepare their return, and once the IRS approves
e-file, you will send in their returns.
4) tell them that if they wanted to mail in the returns, you'll gladly print
them out.
Next year start earlier, like in November.
