This is more gray. Lots of folks (in my state and elsewhere) are
required or otherwise urged to register certain trucks as commercial
vehicles even though they are purchased mainly for personal or mixed
True. I'm not sure what states they are (most I've seen are up north, where
a pickup truck must surely be a commercial venture, instead of a rite of
passage to adulthood as it is in the south), but all trucks are tagged at
least, as a commercial vehicle, even if you don't own a business.
I'm sure there's some reason that was logical for the state legislatures.
Another chicken vs. egg situation. While I applied for certain trade
and business licenses before I obtained the truck, the actual licenses
necessary to do business were not all in hand until after the truck
was delivered.
I don't see that as a problem. You really wouldn't believe how heard the
IRS tries to make things work in your favor if that's what the facts lean
toward.
