Cost Basis for Stock Grant
I received a stock grant (Not Option grant) and paid taxes at the time of
the grant.
In 2004, I received 12 shares of stock, in 2006 I received an additional
42. In 2006 my gross distribution was say $5000, and my tax paid was
$1700, and my stock amount was $3300. I sold all shares, including the
ones from 2004 for $4000.
I'm splitting the shares into two sections as I have short and long term
issues.
When figuring cost basis, do I use gross or after tax numbers?
Thanks
.
