Oh, I went out as much to see how it was, as to get a flat shovel.
I figure it may be a while before I need a snow shovel, but a regular
square shovel will come in handy in the garden.
I use a variety of shovels. The traditional big wide snow shovel is good
for deep, light snow. I have a medium-width coal shovel ("Transfer
shovel") with a plastic blade for heavier snow. And a flat faced narrow
metal shovel (a "garden spade") for peeling back the ice. They are
availble with both long handles and short - long handles make it easier to
get a sharp angle to get under the ice, but the coal shovel has a short
handle, and the snow shovel has a bent handle to make lifting easier.
Good tools are a joy.
