Your fascination with bashing the US amuses me. I'm not sure why you do it considering you don't have a chance in hell of really changing anything but you sure spend a lot of time doing it. I'm not sure if you realize that most folks in the US dislike several things about the country, some more than others. We do what we can to change it to our liking but what I may like might really piss the next guy off - that's the shits about having so many people living in the same place. Kind of like having a roommate - some things you like about them, some you don't. But, it's the best thing we've got. Now, I've been to a lot of different countries and liked a lot of things about them, but I've disliked things about them also - but I don't go slinging mud about them all around. Yes, I think it's a terrible thing that a US Marine may have raped a Japanese girl - he should be punished if he's found guilty. Japanese society is funny in that most domestic rapes (meaning not perpetrated by a foreigner) are not reported to protect family pride. This comes from an Okinawan that I know - it's not second-hand info. That doesn't make what the Marine is accused of doing right - just pointing out that he's not the only one, just the only one you've heard of.
Now, I've never been to Wichita so I can't say if it's full of Brits or not, but I doubt it is.
I plan to stay healthy, but I have accompanied relatives that were in not-too-good health (most recently father-in-law who was battling prostate cancer) and I still didn't run in to the aforementioned foreigners.
Care to provide a cite on the locomotive issue? (Why do you know so much about it?)
Just because someone is a way of life doesn't mean that they have to be a burden - they two don't necessarily go together.
Canadians are no more educated, well-mannered or well-dressed than we are as a whole. The Italians ARE well dressed.
The majority of cars sold in the US were made in N. America (this does include Canada and Mexico; I can't find any statistics that break it out any further than that but the number was nearly double). Toyota has surpassed GM as the worlds largest auto manufacturer and I personally attribute that to the UAW boning it's own (see, I don't like EVERYTHING about the US).
The Asians have been particularly good as of late taking something designed somewhere else and building it better and cheaper. Partly because of cheap labor, partly because of good management pratices. Toyota has lead the way in lean auto manufacturing for probably two decades now. Many businesses around the world use their management concept.
I've lived in the UK for nearly 3 1/2 years. I liked the tea, B&Bs, Sunday roast, Page 3 Girls, the vast majority of the people I met, the history that's everywhere to see, the RAF folks that I worked with, the public transit, pubs and fish and chips. I didn't like Marmite (what the hell is that stuff, anyways?), the roads, the newspapers and the cops. I would go back in a heartbeat but I wouldn't stay forever. There are a few things I like about the US too much to give them up (bass fishing for instance).

(R)Try Wjhicita its full of Brits
Migrantfarmers are a way of life with so much land being farmed.
(R)Yet your good old boys blame all of Americas ills on them
I haven't met oneBritish, Austrailian or Philipino doctor/nurse/medic(?) in any hospital I've been in (but I don't go to County General either).
(R)Good stay healthy
I can't say about anyCanadians, can't really tell them from Yanks.
(R) Oh they are easy to tag, they have good manners, good dress sense and are well educated
General Electric locomotivesare still made in the US along with a group of other countries.
(R) Montreal Locomotive works and another one in Mexico build the most locos in Conus, and the bulk of the passennger locos and stock in the north east are italian made Pendalinos. Even the class 60 and 66 locos sold to the UK that came draped in the stars and stripes were actually built in Montreal Canada
Most UScars are still made within our borders (but I'm not sure how long that will last - the UAW is doing a good job of pushing manufacturing/assembly out of the country - and that's a shame).
(R)More Jap and Korean owned companies build in the US than domestic builders,
I'm not certain how you came to theconclusion the US computer industry is on it's knees?
(R) Because basically only the processors are ma\de in the US now, cases, motherboards, drives etc screens etc nearly all come from Asia
We're still the mostinnovative country in that respect (or was the latest Intel processor invented in China?).
(R)Now on that I do agree, The Americans are truly brilliant at innovative design and concepts
(R) God no The UK is totally fucked, we done even have a service industry based economy now, We build nothing anymore, Christ knows how we maintain the 3rd or 4th position in the wealth created stakes.
But I suppose that Australia and GB are industrial powerhouses that don't import anything or anybody. Look around yourself and I'd bet you see thousands of items not made in your own country. People that live in glass houses........
