No, there were a number of Amnesty programs, where it was promised that
the government would stop the flood, but they needed to give amnesty to
the illegals who were already here.
One was under President Reagan, the "Immigration Reform and Control Act
of 1986". Reagan and the government lied, they didn't enforce the borders.
Maybe I got some bad information: perhaps my verbal source was talking
about the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 under Johnson, but I see
no amnesty there; just Ted Kennedy lying his ass off big time.
