"Wages in the US" refers to all workers, not just the ones that fall
under minimum wage. I'm well above that level, and no, the government
doesn't give me a damn thing as to determining the wages my employer
trades me for my time and services. And no, my wages - measured in
buying power - have not gone up in years. Dollars, yes, buying power,
no. The good news is benefits have been cut and corporate profits are
way up.
Your wages SHOULD go up in relation to your increased contribution to the
bottom line. Automatic wage increase without increased contribution is
bullshit! The market should determine your compensation, just make yourself
invaluable! Learn more skills, Increase your value to the company.

About a third are minimum wage, can't read a tape measure, can sweep, gopher
and such. No, I can do without some of them them but they need jobs and I
find room for as many as I can. We're in a shitty neighborhood and it needs
jobs! I feel it's my Christian duty.

hrs/week) I won't hire illegals, nobody is off-books. My suppliers and
customers are my partners, sales and material are contracted at fair value.

I'm the last one to get a paycheck and many of my people have bigger checks
than I. And, yes...part of my Christian duty is to my employees and the
community. It comes back to me in many other ways. I get shown pictures of
employees kids graduating from University, I get visits from ex-employees
that have gone on to bigger and better things with my training, I get
parents thanking me for turning their kid around from drugs, I get tearfull
thanks from people that got out of prison and I was the only person to give
them a chance, People in the neighborhood keep constant watch on my property
and shoo strangers away off-hours. I guess I'm rich!
