Hi folks.

I have a bit of silver since I am a silversmith, I also have a little
bit of gold in the form of a few pieces of jewelry, not enough to
worry about. I would argue that during a time period after an economic
crash, all forms of currency will be worthless and we would go back to
the barter system, after that I see Silver and Gold ( and maybe copper
and other metals) becoming a form of money once again. I wrote a
small booklet on this subject and I call that form a M.O.E. (a medium
of exchange). No, you can not eat the paper money or the bits of data
on your credit card, but you can exchange those IMMEDIATELY at a
supermarket to buy food. Using gold or silver may be possible now, but
it is far from the norm. It would have to be converted to a MOE that
is being used right now unless you had a deal with a farmer to trade
directly.
