Dear Stormin, out of respect for the quality of the posts you usually
make, I read this. Or at least, I tried to...
My BS detector hit overload almost immediately. Partial analysis
reveals what I consider to be... False Claims... Conspiracy
Theories... Quack Medical Info... Tinfoil Hat Thinking... And last
but not least, a plea for you to 'spread' this intellectual virus
however you can (much as I suspect, to the 'ego appeasement' of the
original writer)...
The science concerning the purpose of fevers is solid. Your blanket
accusation of bullshit is unsupported. From the original author:
"ADDENDUM: January 16, 2006. In the six weeks since this article was
first sent to the readers of the BroJon Daily Digest, it has produced a
flood of email responses. Much was from concerned parents worried about
giving fever medications to their children who have colds or flu. Also
responding were many practicing doctors. As I suspected, most of them
had never heard of anything like this before, but it suddenly all made
sense to them.
Many of the doctors commended me for (1) doing research which went
beyond anything they had read before, and (2) writing about complex
topics such as atomic and molecular structure and medicine in such a
simple and clear manner that it could be understood by most people. This
article seems to have taken on a life of its own, with many copies being
sent around the Internet. Among the many email writers, it is most often
referred to as, "The Letter to Doreen." I want to thank the many doctors
who wrote to me, for their support and encouragement."
Fever serves a purpose, but keep one important factoid in mind. If
body temperature rises above 103 degrees Farenheit ( core body
temperature ), permanent brain damage can ensue. Will ensue. At 105
Farenheit, kiss your ass goodbye...you ARE going to DIE.
Keep this in mind, and you will see why it is wise to monitor core
body temperature during these episodes in order to prevent overheating
from the body's natural mechanisms.
Cooling can be accomplished with a cold bath, not necessarily using
medicines. In fact, that is what is done in emergency situations at
hospitals. Keep this in mind.
