First, I wouldn't fly the US flag in another country. Second, what's
with the Ebonics? Third, "allowed"? There's no law against flying
any flag one feels like flying.

As painful as it may be to you, we won those wars. We also won the
war with Mexico. BTW, my ancestors (just as most multi-generation
Americans) were some of those native Americans.

too scared? Or too embarrassed?

It sounds like you haven't had serious personal contact with
those immigrants, if you think that they would feel ashamed to
fly their own flags, and acknowledge their origins.

Where did this ashamed business come from? The immigrants who came
through Ellis Island were extremely determined to be Americans. As
far as I know they were not flying the flags of their birth countries,
most learned English ASAP, many wouldn't even allow their children to
speak the native language of the parents (such was the case with my
Italian aunt).

Personally, I have TWO countries, by direct experience. And,
wherever I am in the world, I will fly whichever flag I feel like
(especially on appropriate days.) And anyone who objects can
suck it.

Well, good on ya! Just don't expect me to salute your flag unless
