Yah Greg; that explains why a multi-millionaire who makes O.J. look like
a welfare chiseler can't buy a break.

Is he being harassed above and beyond the pale because of who he is, his
celebrity, and the views he espouses?

Absofreakinlutely.

Does that change the fact that he broke the law and got caught?

Yeah. The law.

There are lots of laws on the books. Many of them are not enforced. This
particular law in question is almost NEVER enforced.

This is absolutely true. I live in Florida. Back when Jeb's daughter
Noelle forged a prescription, the topic came up in an article I read.
The amount of people charged for "Dr. Shopping" at that time could be
counted on one hand. Literally. There was one woman in Palm Beach,
if memory serves who had really pushed the law to the limit, visiting
scores of Dr.'s to obtain her prescriptions.

I'm not sure, but I think this law was probably designed not to catch
people like Rush, but more for the people who obtain these kinds of
drugs for illegal distribution to others.

So basically he's been the object of a witch hunt. And to hear and
watch liberals talk about Rush's drug problem - well - if this wasn't
such a vile attempt to destroy and discredit a man for no other reason
than his politics - would be comical. Let's face it - left wing
liberals take the fucking prize by any standard of measure when it
comes to illegal drug use.

And they also scoff at him taking a plea. Get fucking real. The vast
majority of felony arrests in Florida end in a plea simply because
there would no place to put them all if they had to do time.

I'm glad to see he beat this thing - for no other reason then the vast
amount of liberal celeb's who beat drug charges day in and day out.

On a personal note, my back is basically destroyed - multiple
herniated disks, spinal stenosis, osteo arthritis, etc. 4 of the best
surgeons in FL have told me the only thing that will solve my problem
is disk replacement surgery (very new).

I take pain killers for the pain, but they aren't a panacea as many
would believe. And the ones I take are very strong. I have never had
the need to seek multiple Dr's to obtain these drugs as my Dr.
prescribes them in adequate supplies to keep the pain tolerable. And
for me, that's as good as it gets - tolerable. Although I've dealt
with this pain for years, 3 years ago I had an accident that basically
fucked me for life. So I don't really recall a day without pain in
quite some time.

But one gets used to it as best one can. There are days where I want
to "cash in the chips" so to speak, but I keep going for my wife.

So I fully - deeply - and completely understand what it's like to have
to deal with pain and you're being under treated for pain. It took me
a few different Dr's to find one that *would* treat me appropriately,
but thankfully I did. Perhaps Rush didn't find a Dr. like that and
that's why he had to do what he had to do.

I cut the man some slack only because I've been there and know what
it's like to live like that (if that's any kind of way to live, it
barely is).

The good news is that there are new medications on the horizon that
aren't narcotics that have incredible pain relieving properties. Maybe
inside of 5 years this will all be a thing of the past. I hope so.
