Sure you can erase terrorism. It just takes lots and lots and lots of
dead terrorist families or their entire country. Bombed flat, bombed
until the rubble bounces, then slaughter all the survivors, then the
earth salted.

Reference Pax Romana, or Gengis Khan

The Peace of Rome existed from 27 BC-180 AD. It marked the high
point, and the decline, of the Roman Empire. The Peace of Rome
was remarkable as an example of ongoing state oppression.

The "earth salted" occurred but once but had nothing to do with
terrorism.

The destruction of Carthage, orginally a Phoenician colony, by Rome
occurred after three major wars spanning some 65 years (264-2o4 BC).
Terrorism was not a factor. Contact between Carthage and Rome was
sporatic and conflict occurred because each claimed a vast trading
area along the Mediterrranean. The Phonecians, being there first,
resented the Roman expansion, and attacked the Romans.

A case of too many young males, high mobility and nowhere to go
but west.

A population explosion, mobility and climate combined to create one of
the major population expansions in history. For a short while Gengis
Khan and is offspring attacked and terrorized half of present
day Europe. It stopped as the population expansion on the
Steppes stopped and a lack of leadership. Some Mongols returned
to their homelands while others assimilated.

But the big problem..is there the will to do it?

Terrorism occurs as the result of major oppression by
one culture over another, usually brought on by invasion
and occupation.

Succeeding generations of the terrorized eventually retaliate.
If they succeed the act is known as overthrowing the oppressor.
If it does not they become known as the terrorists.

The victor writes the history.

"Pax Americana is a philosophy. Hardly an empire.
Making sure other people play nice and dont kill each other (and us)
off in job lots is hardly empire building, particularly when you give
them self determination under "play nice" rules.

Think of it as having your older brother knock the *** out of you
for torturing the cat." Gunner
