Babies and Safe Drinking Water

Something you may want to look at for 'bulk' water disinfection that is also
suitable for chemical 'sanitisation' of equipment and surfaces, is the
'tablet' version of the 'Milton Method' used to sterilise/sanitise baby
bottles...

From way down the page...

"...Milton Tablets - 30's
Each Milton Tablet contains Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate 500mg. A common use
is for the disinfection and sanitisation of infant feeding utensils,
equipment and surfaces. It can also be used to disinfect drinking water -
one tablet in 32 litres of clean water!..."

'Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate' is, IIRC, used in some brands of 'water
purification' tablets sold in camping stores (Puritabs?). These tablets
don't actually 'purify' the water in the sense that they create 'pure'
water, they just kill off a range of microbes thus making the water safer to
drink from an 'infectious biohazard' viewpoint.

From way down the page...

"...Q Can I use Milton to sterilise drinking water?
A Yes. To sterilise drinking water, add 1 Milton tablet to 32 litres of
water. Wait at least 15 minutes before drinking..."

IIRC, the 'Puritab' dosage for 1 litre of water will actually treat 2 litres
of water, if left for twice as long... (Feel free to correct me on this).

In the event TSHTF (i.e. Hurricane Katrina), let alone TEOTWAWKI, babies
will become especially vulnerable. Having preps specifically for babies
adds another strain to the budget, but I believe that since this particular
item has multiple 'prep' uses, it might be worthwhile to at least evaluate
it.

Just ask your womenfolk...

Hope this helps.
