SHOTS "FIRED TO KILL OR INJURE"
Soldiers who fired on the car from the roof of a building testified to the
military investigator that they saw a passenger hanging out of one of the
windows holding what appeared to be a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG)
launcher.
No shit... This is the second time (to my knowledge) that this has
happened, and both have been fully justified. Any idea what kind of
damage the relatively low tech RPG can do? It's unbelievable. Humvees
are routinely turned into scrap metal. If I'm not mistaken, the
Bradley Fighting Vehicle and especially the amphibious troop carriers
don't fare all that well either. RPGs can blow the treads off of the
M1 Abrams tank.
If I were in Iraq for long enough to see the effects of just one RPG
on a vehicle full of fellow soldiers, anyone pointing anything even
remotely looking like one would get a hard look for about half a
second, followed by a wall of lead.
