Sign up for an Unlimited Data plan and get a data cable for your phone.
You will probably have to change phones to one that supports high speed
data. Almost all phones have data capabilities but some don't do high
speed, it not needed when browsing the net on the phones screen.
I find the screen too small to be a useful window to the Internet.

The phone will plug into the USB port on the PC and look like a
modem. The Cell provider will connect you to the Internet but ISP
services like E-Mail & Newsgroup servers are not part of the cellular data
plan so you will need to get those services elsewhere.

I can get a web-based email address, but to give up Usenet....?

I guess he didn't afterall..... but indicated I'd have to pay for it
elsewhere. I think I'd explore the web-based forums before I paid for
this drivel <g>.

There are any number of free usenet providers. The German one is very
good.
