Firstly, US troops in Vietnam during Kennedy were mostly "advisors",
they didn't invade, I think only about 3,000. Secondly, JFK gradually
came to realize the CIA was lying to him, and decided a policy change.
Thirdly, Saddam did in fact have WMD, we just haven't found them.

Nixon was out of office as of August, 1974. The North
Vietnamese won the war in, IIRC, April of 1975.

The reason we went to the moon is to prove to the soviets that we could
do it, which ment we could put warheads into Moscow. The space race
began with JFK.
What utter nonsense. If we could hit Moscow, the Russians
would know it. We didn't need to put men on the moon to
prove we could hit Moscow.
The space race started right after WWII.
Which ended with a bang.
And so was born the need for long range missiles.
Besides, if you compare what the "space race" got us,
compared to what it cost us, you might not be so sure it was
worthwhile.
It prevented World War III because we proved to the Soviets (and the
world) or capabilities.
We proved we could spend billions of Dollars doing something
that was purely symbolic. It did not prove our military
prowess; it proved our financial foolishness.
It's called a show of strength. It's a much cheaper than proving it in
battle.
The Soviets had nukes in Cuba. Castro wasn't in control of
them.
Castro said he did and Russia confirmed it.
Then why did Castro allow them to be taken out of Cuba?
Because the Soviets said so. Even dictators make deals.
