At least the recent marches have proven one thing conclusively. The
claim of illegal-alien advocates that the economy would grind to a halt
without illegal-alien labor has been debunked - as Los Angeles hardly
had its economy implode when they took the day off to go protest!

The thing that really frustrates me is that I have had to jump through
so many hoops to get my wife residency and it's starting to look like
getting my step kids over is near impossible. Yet, if someone is
willing to ignore the law, they are much better off.

Perverse, ain't it?

Very much so.

For those who are working within the framework of existing laws and
regulations, this is just really...really damn frustrating.

You have my sympathies on that matter. Just watch -- the
government is going to grant amnesty to the illegals, and
your LEGAL efforts are going to become even more difficult.
Is this fun, or what?

It's probably true that it will make things a lot harder. If they
want a guest worker program that allows people to enter the US and
earn their citizenship, I've got two step kids who are quite willing
to do it without breaking any laws.

However, allowing 11-14 million law breakers to go to the front of the
line makes the legal immigration of mine quite unlikely. BTW, what
kind of perverse logic makes them think that although they broke the
law they have not done anything illegal?

Anyway, I'm going to call INS and hold for an hour.
