Comments, suggestions welcome.
Antibiotic - FS - Tetracycline
Antibiotic - RX - Augmentin
Antibiotic - RX - Cipro
Antibiotic - RX - Doxycycline
Antibiotic - RX - Zithromax
No point in two tetracycline type drugs. Just doxycycline ( covers
malaria prophylaxis as well as being easier to take - no problems with
milk etc).
Rather than ciprofloxacin go for a newer one with better coverage such
as moxifloxacin
Also add metronidazole as it covers a few things none of the others do
and is pretty safe stuff ( just don't mix with alcohol).
Adding flucloxacillin for staph aureus or if very ambitious linezolid
( active against MRSA but costs +++)
Consider trimethoprim. Dirt cheap but good for UTI and chests
depending on local sensitivities ( and bizzarrely often MRSA) .
Likewise amoxicillin which covers standard anthrax and again is cheap.
Suggest talking to your local hospital microbiology lab for their
local take on this
Usual disclaimer The above is for interest only, talk to you doctor
who knows you.
