A Pivotal Moment In History

It's always darkest just before the dawn ...

Europe might still be deep in the midst of its downward spiral into
so-called Liberalism, but at least North America has finally begun
crawling back out of the mucky mire. Later today, in a few short hours
(as of this writing), the second of two Bush-appointed nominees will
take his place on the Supreme Court, thereby tilting the balance of
power towards the Right for the next quarter-century.

Presidents may come and go, as is true for members of Congress. And
sure, those branches of government make policies that can affect
everyone across the land. Yet with few exceptions, they rarely exert the
kind of long-lasting influence inherently associated with Supreme Court
decisions. Just ask the ACLU ... who, incidentally, is going to
experience a whole lot of headaches for the next couple decades. Oh
well, there's always aspirin.

As if all of this weren't delicious enough for we members of Red-State
America, Conservatives in Canada have also booted their former Liberal
government after thirteen years. Said they were tired of the lies and
corruption. I guess we Republicans aren't exactly alone with our
occasional scandals and shenanigans. And as for the Canadian court
system, their top judges are simply appointed ... period. They don't
have a confirmation process. Canada's counterpart to the ACLU had also
better stock up on aspirin, I suppose.

Here in America, our Liberals talk about how this business represents a
big step backwards for society. The Left sees itself as marching into a
progressive future ... where same-sex marriage, legalized drugs, and
assisted suicide are considered wholly normal ... where people such as
Michael Moore, Cindy Sheehan, and Al Franken are elevated to the status
of modern-day folk heroes ... where political correctness reigns
supreme, and America never does anything anywhere without first begging
permission from the United Nations.

Well, if that is the Left's world of tomorrow, I, for one, am glad to be
taking a step backwards. Let's make it a BIG step, shall we ... or a few
thousand giant ones, for that matter. It appears as though my Canadian
brothers and sisters feel fairly much the same. Call me a Neanderthal,
if you must ... I'm happy to wear the label. In the meantime, I'll be
watching that new guy, Alito, receive his confirmation vote ... on Fox
News, of course!

Presidents may come and go, as do members of Congress. Liberals may or
may not win in either the '06 or '08 elections. Time will tell. Yet
whatever the case, Conservatives have already taken back the United
States Supreme Court. And that's a fact not likely to change for the
next twenty or thirty years. This is a pivotal moment in our history.
Remember that as you watch Bush on television tonight.

It's always darkest just before the dawn. Liberals may be dreading that
big step backwards, but we on the Right are finally seeing those first
rays of a rising sun, after a very long period of Left-induced darkness.
Things like this always depend on your personal perspective. From my
point of view, the weather looks great. We're in for a wonderful day ...
a day which will last for as many years as the highest court in our land
remains standing up-RIGHT!

Your feedback is now cordially invited.
