Zheng He made it to the middle east and it's probable that he saw the
Eastern coast of Africa.  But no farther.  Later expeditions didn't
make it as far.

<G> Didn't know anyone had taken it seriously enough to investigate. I brought it up because it had been claimed, and the truth of a claim has nothing to do with whether or not it is usable for pretext for war.

Even if it is debunked enough to keep the Chinese from using it, that still leaves the other things they can use to try to claim they are "not expansionist, just trying to reclaim land that is historically Chinese".
