The rich are already preparing...

And if those with money start to worry, it's a sure sign it's nothing
to
sneeze at.

A whole lot of things, actually. It is by exchanging information
that we can revise and fine tune our preparations to increase
our chances.
For instance, black elderberry extract. This herbal medicine
apparently DOES reduce your body's vulnerability to viral
infection, including cold and flu. So you want to have lots
of it on hand in the event of H2H avian Flu, right?
Maybe not. Because elderberry extract increases your body's
defenses by promoting the production of cytokines,
powerful anti-viral chemicals. And scientists studying the 1918
flu believe now that what killed the young and healthy more
than any other group was OVER-production of cytokines,
their bodies trying so desperately to fight off the virus that
it set off a cytokine storm in their lungs that destroyed their
ability to absorb enough oxygen to keep them alive. And
obviously the young and strong were able to produce cytokines
at a higher rate than those weakened by age, extreme youth,
or prior illness, So in this particular case, while elderberry
extract might reduce your chances of GETTING bird flu, if you
DO get it, the extract's effects might kill you...
Things like that.
Here's someone taking a systematic approach to preparing for
a human/avian flu, and other disasters as well. I think even
veteran survivalists could benefit from his musings.

Too bad there's no one posting such things here...
