California Survivalists?

I am a Los Angeles-based journalist researching for a story about
off-grid living and survivalism. I think this is more important to
consider now than ever, in light of post-Katrina fears that seem to be
sweeping the country.
I'm looking for people who live off the grid to talk to about their
lifestyle, and why they live the way they do. People in California, or
from California would be preferable, as I write for a local magazine.
Also, any resources you could direct me to that might help my research
would be really appreciated.
