The broad band over powerline wipes out HF from about 2MHz
to above 20MHz.
Efectively killing HF used for long distance comms.
Reception is limited by the noise floor at the receiving location.
The typical ham operating in an effected area is not going to
be runing a kilawatt and will often be very weak. And BPL will
cover his weak transmssion with noise.
The threat is very real, but as usual big money wins.
Some of my more cynical friends suspect BPL is just an
easy way to kill unofficial long distance comms including
foriegn SW news casts.
