True. But in my experience, many people who are "cut off" from the outside
world by a disaster really want TV. I think that its partly because many of
us are accustomed to a certain level of exposure to outside news and events
via the TV, which provides us not only information but also a sense of
connectedness to the larger world, and partly because just being able to
watch TV is a form of reassurance that "normal life" continues and is being
restored where they are.
