Which warships. The Royal navy has about 15 destroyers and that is a bout it. None of which are off the gulf coast at this time. Obviously the Daily Mail is making something up.

The current list of warships of the British navy is

3 Invincible class warships (small 20,000 ton jump jet Carriers ) of which one is always in refit. Our destroyers now weight 13,000 tons.

4 Vanguard class ballistic missile submarines
7 Trafalgar Class Nuclear attack submarines
5 Swiftsure Class Nuclear Attack Submarines

4 Daring Class Air defense destroyers (7,200 tons) half the size of ours
4 Manchester Class Air defense destroyers (4500 tons) 463 ft long
4 Sheffield Class (Batch 2) air defense destroyers 4200 tons 410 ft long
3 Sheffield Class (Batch 1) air defense destroyers 4200 tons 463 ft long
16 Duke class (type 23) Frigates  4200 tons diesel powered 436 ft long
4 Cornwall class Type22 Batch 3 4800 tons 486 feet long
2 Boxer class asw Frigates 4800 tons  463 feet long

above ships are all diesel or gas turbine powered and have very limited fresh water making capability and almost no stores carrying ability.

Amphibious ship Ocean 21,000 tons (currently in off Iraq)

2 Albion Class  Amphibious ships 16,000 tons currently in dry dock

1 Fearless amphibious landing ship dock 12,000 tons 520 ft long
1 Sir Galahad large landing ship 8700 tons 461 feet long
2 Modified Sir Lancelot landing ship  6700 tons
2 original Sir Lancelot landing ships 5700 tons

a bunch of patrol craft.

Out side of the jump jet carriers,(which don't carry much) and the ocean the British Navy doesn't can't support its self out side of English waters with out US Naval support.

Obviously the Daily Mail is just like the rifleman, says a bunch of shit to make him self feel good, while living on the dole.
