My father and mother in law are both 80 + and still doing well, considering. But one thing is driving us nuts. We are looking for telephones that have 12 buttons, a loud ringer, and a loud earpiece.
BUT NOTHING ELSE. Every phone out there has more damned bells, lights, whistles, buttons, voice instructions, blinkers, and features than Carter his pills or Fuller has brushes. My FIL is always accidently pushing something and then the phone doesn't work right and he can't use it. My MIL is better at not pushing buttons, she just unplugs it when she gets frustrated. That puts everything back in default mode. Oh joy.
We even have a state program for elderly and hard of hearing folks. They give you a phone that when the phone rings you pick it up, push this button to talk, push this button to hear better, or push this button if you're standing or this one if you're sitting. My FIL, gotta love him, has no short term memory, he won't remember what you told him 5 minutes ago, and ZERO technology savy. We want a phone he can pick up and say "hello" and carry on a conversation with whoever is on the other end. We don't care if he forgets someone just called. We don't care if he can't take a message. We just want him to be able to answer the phone if it rings or be able to call someone if he wants.

Sorry for the ramble and hope I made sense. but it's just rather frustrating not being able to find a simple phone with considerably extra volume, 12 buttons, and nothing else.

Thanks if anyone has any links

I got a brand new, never installed, original ITT black rotary
telephone. It's wonderful. The sound is great, the ring is
distinctive, and the handset it actually comfortable to hold.
